CAT FRIENDS
Denver has officially declared itself a cat-friendly city. The
proclamation made by the City Council recognizes the steps taken on
behalf of cats by area animal care and control agencies that have
provided licensing, spay/neuter surgeries, subsidized veterinary care
and participation in an initiative to microchip cats for free. Indeed,
Councilwoman Carla Madison came prepared - in a cat costume - to extend
feline felicitations.

being offered to 150,000 cats in the six-county Denver metro area.
Fewer than 10 percent of lost cats brought to shelters are ever
reunited with their owners. By microchipping 150,000 cats in the Denver
area, participating members hope to significantly increase the
percentage of cats that will be reunited with their owners.
